Usually a frozen evaporator coil is an indication that you are probably low on refrigerant or Freon. It could also be from lack of air flow across the evaporator coil. When was the last time you changed your filter? The EPA recommends looking at your filter every 30 days and if it is dirty, changing it. Keeping your filter changed helps keep your utility bills lower, helps your equipment work more efficiently and helps it last longer. If your evaporator coil looks like this, don't take any chances - call a service technician. Don't just let it thaw out and run it again. If it is low on refrigerant, you need to have it serviced. Running a unit with low levels of refrigerant can damage your expensive compressor.
